This past year, ONNA has been working towards revolutionizing vegetable production in the Nordics and subsequently reducing Norway’s reliance on vegetable imports. Now it is finally happening: ONNA is building Norway’s first large-scale vertical farm this year.
Located just outside Moss, we will provide the broader Oslo-region and beyond with locally grown salads and herbs. By doing so, we are tackling one of modern farming’s biggest problems: The distance produce has to travel to be consumed. At ONNA, we aim to keep the distance as short as possible. For the environment, and for the people eating it. We believe that greener and cleaner is the way to go, and with our first farm we are creating a better alternative to salads and herbs currently imported.
ONNA’s farm is built in close collaboration with our technological partners Mirai. With more than 10 years of experience in hydroponic vertical farming, Mirai is at the forefront of Japanese vegetable production – and they bring a unique combination of innovative technology, plant science and operational excellence to the table.
Although you won’t find ONNA salads and herbs in stores just yet, we are ready for you. Once people get a taste of fresher, healthier and greener greens, we are ready to expand production even further – in the Oslo-area and across the Nordics. The salad revolution has just begun!
